14 days to go to Christmas; 18 days until we leave. And now I start the proper research.
The challenge is this: how to create a trip that is enjoyable, educational and meets the needs of a 6 year old boy, a 34 year old man, and family? An interesting quandary indeed.
So here are some of the areas or trips that we are considering:
- Arthur’s Pass (one for the scenic route)
- Whale watching at Kaikora
- Mud bathing at Rotorua
- New Plymouth
- Sailing in Auckland.
Ummm… that’s about it so far. An suggestions?
Just don’t break the taaaaapooo. [Ask Ant for translation]
I found Kaikora really disappointing. If you’re around Christchurch, go to Akaroa instead – http://www.destination.co.nz/akaroa. Old French charm in NZ…
Rotorua is a must for the honking mud pools and geysers. There’s an animal park on the outskirts where you can pet wallabies and bearded pigs and go for short, accessible walks through the bush.
